Acupressure uses pressure on certain meridian points throughout the body to relieve pain.
Cold Stone Therapy incorporates refrigerated stones to reduce inflamation in sore muscles. I use them in much the same way as I do the hot stones.
Cranio-Sacral can be performed with the client fully clothed, and lying on their back. It is a very subtle technique designed to relax the nervous system through a series of holds and rocking motions.
Facilitated Stretches help to lengthen shortened muscles through movements that the therapist helps the client perform.
Fibromyalgia Masssage: I am trained to understand and work specifically with those who suffer with fibromyalgia. This is one of the reasons that I rarely use aromatherapy or fragrances in my oils. Massage is prescribed by doctors as the most effective way to deal with the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Using the techniques I learned in fibromyalgia workshops, I am able to soothe the client's nervous system while releasing chronically constracted muscles and at the same time, keep them from experiencing a flair-up after their massage.
Hot Stone Massage uses heated basalt river rocks and oil to give a deep soothing massage.
Lymphatic Massage is a modality which uses extremely light pressure, slow and rhythmic to manually move the lymph through your body in order to remove toxins and prevent stagnation.
Manual Lymph Drainage, like Lymphatic Massage, this modality works with the lymphatic system, but it is more specific. I use this modality to manually move lymph that has pooled due to poor lymph circulation.
Pre-natal Massage helps pregnant clients reduce the stress that carrying a baby puts on their bodies. It is traditionally done in the side-lying position. A pre-natal massage practitioner is trained to know which points on the body should not receive heavy pressure due to the fact that it will induce labor. Of course, when the time comes, a doctor may request that those points be worked, but they should never be worked without a doctor’s supervision.
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, involves applying pressure to certain points on the hands, feet and ears to stimulate different parts of the body.
Reiki can be performed with the client fully clothed. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Sports Massage incorporates a lot of facilitated stretches along with massage to help athletes perform at their best and reduce injury to the muscles.
Swedish Massage is characterized by long gentle strokes and gentle kneading. I usually start every session with some Swedish strokes to relax the nervous system and help my client let go of the stress of the day.
